CAMPAIGN FOR SAFE COSMETICS
The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is a coalition working to protect your health by calling for the elimination of chemicals used in the cosmetics industry linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems.
Personal care products are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other government agency. As a result, of the more than 10,000 chemical ingredients found in personal care products -- everything from shampoo to nail polish to after shave -- 89% have not undergone safety testing. Many of these chemicals have found their way into our bodies, our breast milk and our children. With breast cancer, birth defects and other health problems on the rise, there is no reason for these chemicals to be in our products.
Since WVE helped launch the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics in 2004, tens of thousands of concerned consumers have demanded the beauty industry clean up their act and remove toxic ingredients from products. The Campaign is making great progress because of the support we have received from consumers like you.
